This program is designed to meet NFPA 1670 (2004 ed.) – Chapter 9 Awareness Level Training. The program is to provide essential water safety information to the first responder (an individual who arrives at a water emergency first). Critical program components include: personal safety (how to properly don a personal flotation device (PFD), activation of the Emergency Response System, scene safety, hazard recognition, and data gathering. Information regarding operations and technician level training programs are provided to introduce the student to the many aspects of water rescue training.
